Project notes +
Project goal
Develop a custom 3D-printed interior panel for a second-generation Jeep Cherokee XJ to accommodate an auxiliary battery, charge controller, inverter, and supporting electrical components.
Design priorities
- Create a rigid mounting system designed for vibration and movement during off-road use.
- Secure the battery and heavier components to suitable structural mounting points.
- Shield electronics, wiring, and connections from shifting cargo.
- Allow space for ventilation, cable routing, and access to fuses and disconnects.
- Maintain a clean, integrated appearance while keeping components accessible for inspection and service.
Next steps
Map the available space and factory mounting points, finalize the component layout, and develop the panel and support structure. Check fitment, mounting strength, cargo clearance, and heat management before evaluating the assembly in off-road use.
